  White House Easter Egg Roll
White HouseTour Links Putting Greens was asked to provide two 12 x12 Standard Links Putting greens which were used in the 2010 White House Easter Egg Roll on the south lawn of The White House April 5, 2010.

As part of Mrs. Obama’s initiative to promote health and wellness and reduce childhood obesity, Baby Goes Pro selected Tour Links Putting Greens to be a participating member of this campaign. We arrived at the White House under very tight security and installed several Tour Links putting greens for the event held on Monday April 5, 2010.  “Despite your politics this was a great opportunity for Tour Links and the golf industry as it demonstrates the value of golf as a physical fitness activity” said Barlow. More than 5,000 children received the opportunity to roll a few putts on the greens. Guests included PGA star Anna Rawson, Justin Bieber, Reese Witherspoon and Olympic star Apollo Ono. Capitol Hill
Capitol HillCreative Sport Concepts/Tour Links Putting Greens was invited by the PGA of America to participate in National Golf Day and the kick off of “We Are Golf” by providing a Tour Links® putting green on Capitol Hill for the day’s activities in our nation’s capital.

On April 28th 2010  our staff at Tour Links built a 15’ x 17’ Designer Series Putting Green on Capitol Hill in the foyer of the Rayburn House Office Building for use by Congress and their staffs while many of golf’s top industry leaders; including the PGA tour, LPGA, PGA of America and the USGA highlighted the strength and the contributions of the golf industry on the nation’s economy.

We were honored to have Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin as well as many members of the House of Representatives and the golf industries leaders, take time from their busy schedules to experience the quality of a Tour Links Designer Green.

Once again we demonstrated a Tour Links Green can be built anywhere!

  USS Alabama
USS AlabamaFrom our dealer Geoff Hiland – Golf Tec Enterprises

During the Bell Micro LPGA our dealer Geoff Hiland installed  a 9 hole Tour Links golf course. Bell Micro, sponsor for the Mobile Alabama LPGA tournament, hosted a VIP reception that was held at the USS Alabama Memorial Park.

Tour Links putting greens were brought in to represent golf and provide entertainment for the VIP guests and executives of Bell Micro as well as members of the LPGA.

Rather than being held on the Alabama as first expected, the event was reassigned to the airplane hanger, most likely for the comfort of their guests as the weather conditions had shortened the Bell Micro Tournament to a 54-hole event.

Another show of versatility by Tour Links!

Tips and Techniques
In the continuing effort to improve turf installation on the panel system we are constantly experimenting with the techniques to prevent the number one enemy of the installer, wrinkles.

Our testing research here in Florida has shown that when installing a Tour Links green outdoors, pushing all the panels tightly together and installing and stapling the turfs around the perimeter of the panels while both the panels and turfs are the same approximate temperature can greatly reduce the effect of turf shrinking and expanding, which causes wrinkles.

This can only be done when the panels are not secured into the ground; the entire system must be able to grow, but growth will be reduced substantially due to the restriction of the turf.
